The NNA-CO is supporting development of 4 Convergence Working Groups to collaboratively address issues of critical importance to NNA projects and Arctic communities. Each group will work together under a broad theme, with the working group members together determining a more focused set of activities and group outcomes.
In May 2022, Dr. Twila Moon from the NNA-CO gave a video-seminar "Fostering convergence to address complex Arctic climate challenges: Identifying opportunities with the Navigating the New Arctic (NNA) Program" through ACCAP in which she outlined and discussed our CWG plans.
Convergence Working Groups Theme Input
Before beginning the process of developing team co-leads and participants, the NNA-CO sought community input on 8 Draft Themes that may be adjusted or refined as Convergence Working Group focus themes.

How were these 8 Draft Themes identified?
The NNA-CO reviewed all funded NNA projects and also reflected on recent community discussions (including at the 2021 NNA Annual Community Meeting) to identify 8 broad themes that link across a swath of projects. Overall Draft Themes include incomplete lists of example Subtopics.
What will happen next?
The NNA-CO collected comments from all interested parties (e.g., Arctic community members, researchers, partners, etc.). These comments will be reviewed and a list of 8 Themes will be evolved for presentation to the broad NNA community before and at the NNA Annual Community Meeting (Nov. 15-17, 2022). At that time, the NNA-CO will open up the nomination/application process for those interested in co-leading a Convergence Working Group. Nominees/applicants will indicate their theme(s) of interest. Working group co-leads and Convergence Working Groups Themes will be finalized during winter 2022/23.
